When Glass Alliance - New Mexico was formed in 2006, glass began to receive more and more recognition in New Mexico. As the founder, Betsy Ehrenberg, brought artists, collectors and galleries together to promote the education, awareness and collection of art made in glass, numerous collectors have traveled to New Mexico to see and purchase works made by artists in our region, more galleries have begun representing these artists and new collectors have emerged. Out of support from and the relations formed from Glass Alliance - New Mexico, came the creation of TIGA:Taos Institute for Glass Arts, Inc. TIGA is now serving as the catalyst in Taos for bringing art glass into the mainstream of art and architecture in New Mexico through hands-on education and special facility resources.
The center point is our new glass studio, New Mexico’s first complete glass working environment. It will enable a full range of glass techniques including blowing, kiln working, casting, torch working and cold working—all under one roof. Currently in its second stage, TIGA is in process of completing its warm glass studio, mold-making studio, and cold-working area. Phase three will bring in a complete torchworking shop. And phase four will complete the hot glass facilities.

Our vision extends well beyond Taos and Northern New Mexico. The concept involves bringing world-class artists working in the medium of glass to teach and collaborate in all aspects of art, function and design. People from all over the country will come to Taos to learn the many skills involved in glass creation. Special glass-art talent coupled with the advantages of our unique facility are designed to attract architectural commissions nationally and beyond.

We invite you to become a part of this exciting progression....
Our plan is currently in Phase II and that’s where you come in. We are now working with local leaders, educators and the artist community to make Taos a major glass arts destination. It’s where interested teachers and students can learn about the special techniques that makes art glass the most exciting new art medium emerging in America. We’re also reaching out to architects, builders and designers to extend their knowledge of art glass to improve the design and comfort of the modern contemporary home and workplace.
We’re seeking special individuals to join our advisory board and committee members to help forge TIGA into a Taos-based, national center for glass arts. There are opportunities for investors and sponsors to help us achieve our goals and great potential.

TIGA is also working closely with Glass Alliance - New Mexico, the Taos County Economic Development Corporation (our direct 501-3c sponsor organization), The Taos County Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Taos, and other related organizations to support general community development and to realize our specific goals.
Help us develop the Taos Institute for Glass Arts into a world-glass organization. Become a part of this growing medium and help Taos become a major glass-art destination center. Contact us for more information and to dialog with us personally.
